This year, so far

Thu Sep 29, 2005, 1:33 AM
Did a great deal of travelling. From Hollywood and all over southern cali, New Orleans and New York to London, Munich, and Paris.

So much to do in California. Stayed in LA, Santa Monica, and San Diego this year; San Diego being the most relaxed, LA the most exciting, and Santa Monica the most beautiful. If there is an afterlife, I hope it consists of driving along the Pacific Coast Highway on a spring day.

New Orleans is a yearly summer vacation. The ominous weather which met us this year was a preminition, it seems. I will return next summer, regardless, for as often as I travel there, some part of me lingers on the streets of the French Quarter, wandering beneath gas lights and full moons.

From Time Square to Ground Zero, New York teems with stories. Like a rabid comic book writing itself, the city wears it's tragedies as an accolade of integrity. Dead Can Dance, Radio City Music Hall, October 8th....not sure if I want it to arrive, cause what else do I have to look forward to in life?

London was like a Star Trek episode. All the diversity the US is missing bustles in the streets of London. I could live here; despite the fire of my northern irish grandfather's dismay. It seems to be the epicenter of the world, perhaps not the source of culture, technology, or thought, but certainly a rich palette containing a piece of everything.

Missed Oktoberfest by 2 days!!! Munich erupts with merriment, people travel from neighboring countries to fill it's streets and celebrate. To know it's history and see it's present day inspires the hope for the rest of the world's unity.

Paris. The most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life. More an elaborate dream, Paris possessed me. I dare not attempt to transcribe the enrapuring grace of this city; it's enough to say I shall return or be haunted forever.
